Gowings Golden Goddess dressing & marinade

This vibrant Golden Goddess Dressing is one of the hardest-working recipes in my restorative kitchen. Rich in fresh turmeric, ginger and tamari, it delivers a bold balance of earthy, tangy and savoury flavours that instantly elevates everyday meals.

Use it as a salad dressing, a marinade for chicken, seafood or tofu, or drizzle it over roasted vegetables, grain bowls and nourishing therapeutic plates. Keeping a jar in the fridge makes healthy eating effortless—just one or two tablespoons can transform simple ingredients into a flavour-packed meal.

This recipe makes approximately 1 cup, enough for multiple meals throughout the week. Store it in a sealed glass jar in the refrigerator and shake well before using.

Therapeutic notes

Fresh turmeric and ginger are renowned for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, while apple cider vinegar provides a bright acidity that balances the richness of meals. Tamari contributes natural umami depth without gluten, making this dressing both flavourful and versatile. Together, these ingredients create a functional sauce that supports a whole-food, Mediterranean-inspired approach to eating.

This golden sauce is the basis for so many recipes. It works as a dressing, a marinade and a sauce. This makes about 1 cup, so store for later as required, you’ll only need about 1-2 tablespoons.

Golden Goddess dressing and marinade

Recipe by Samantha Gowing

This golden sauce is the basis for so many recipes. It works as a dressing, a marinade and a sauce. This makes about 1 cup, so store for later as required, you’ll only need about 1-2 tablespoons.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tablespoons fresh turmeric, finely minced (about 20 g)
  • 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar (175 ml)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons tamari (40 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely minced (about 10 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes or cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Process until smooth and foaming.
  2. Transfer to a glass bottle, jug or jar. Seal well and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

For a smoother consistency, blend all ingredients until silky. For a more rustic dressing, simply whisk everything together. Adjust the heat with more or less chilli to suit your taste.
